Getting started

What is Tarvo?

Tarvo is a strength training app for iPhone and Apple Watch. It sets weight and reps for every set from the previous session and raises them week by week.

How do I get started?

On first launch, Tarvo asks about your goal, your days, your experience and where you train. Then you choose: let Tarvo build a plan, pick a starter plan or build your own.

Do I need an account?

No. Tarvo stores everything on your iPhone and syncs through your private iCloud.

Which devices do I need?

An iPhone with iOS 26 or later. An Apple Watch with watchOS 26 is an extra.

Training and targets

How is the target for a set set?

From your last session: first the reps go up, then the weight at the top of the range. All the rules are in Progression.

What does the question after the last set mean?

How many more reps you could have done. With 3 or more, the weight goes up sooner; with 0, the target stays. Answering is optional, and you can turn the question off right where it appears.

The target was too heavy. What now?

Enter what you did. If every set fell short, the same target comes back next time; if you fall below the range twice in a row, Tarvo goes back about 5 percent.

What is the light week?

A week with half the sets and 10 percent less weight. Tarvo suggests it when several exercises stall or six weeks have passed. More in Deload.

Apple Watch

Do I need my iPhone at the gym?

No. The watch shows the target, times your rest and syncs with your iPhone later.

There’s no workout on my watch.

Open Tarvo on your iPhone once. After that, your workout is on the watch, even without your iPhone.

Which Apple Watch do I need?

An Apple Watch with watchOS 26 or later.

Switching and import

How do I bring over my history from Hevy or Strong?

Export your workouts there as a CSV file and open it in Tarvo with Import. More in Switch.

What if Tarvo doesn’t recognize an exercise?

Tarvo shows unknown names once, all together. You pick the right exercise or keep the name as a custom exercise.

Why does Tarvo ask for kg or lb with Strong?

Strong doesn’t write the unit into the file. So Tarvo asks once and suggests one.

Subscription and purchase

How do I cancel?

In your iPhone’s Settings: your name at the top, then “Subscriptions”, then Tarvo.

Will you remind me before the trial ends?

Yes, two days before, with a notification on your iPhone.

I have a new iPhone. Is my subscription gone?

No. It’s tied to your Apple Account. In Tarvo, tap “Restore”.

What happens without a subscription?

Instead of the workout, Tarvo shows the subscription offer. Your data stays, and export keeps working.

Data and export

Where is my data?

On your iPhone, your Apple Watch and in your private iCloud. We can’t see it.

How do I export?

In Tarvo, with Export, as CSV or JSON. It always works, even without a subscription.

Does Tarvo use Apple Health?

Yes, if you allow it. Tarvo saves your workout to Health as strength training and reads your heart rate while you train.
