Terms of Use

Last updated: Deutsche Fassung

In short
  • You buy the subscription through Apple: 14 days free, then yearly or monthly.
  • You cancel in your iPhone’s settings, at least 24 hours before it renews.
  • Tarvo’s targets are suggestions from open rules, not medical advice. You train at your own risk.
  • Exporting your data always works, even without a subscription.

1. What these terms cover

These terms apply to the Tarvo app on iPhone and Apple Watch and to the website tarvo.app. The provider is Yannik Muth; the address is in the imprint.

Your licence to use the app is governed by Apple’s Standard License Agreement (Licensed Application End User License Agreement). These terms add the rules on subscription, health and liability.

2. What Tarvo is

Tarvo is a strength training app. It sets weight and reps for every set from your previous performance and raises them by open rules. Tarvo needs an iPhone with iOS 26 or later; an Apple Watch with watchOS 26 is an extra.

We keep developing Tarvo. Features may change as long as the core, targets for your training, remains.

3. Subscription and free trial

  • You can try Tarvo free for 14 days. After that, a yearly or monthly subscription runs, depending on what you chose. Prices are on Pricing and in the App Store; the price the App Store shows you at purchase applies.
  • Under Apple’s rules, the free trial is available once per Apple Account.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account, for the first time at the end of the free trial.
  • The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. This also applies to the end of the free trial.
  • Two days before the free trial ends, Tarvo reminds you with a notification on your iPhone if you have allowed notifications.

4. Cancellation

You cancel in your iPhone’s settings: your name at the top, then “Subscriptions”, then Tarvo. The subscription continues until the end of the paid period.

Without a subscription, Tarvo opens the subscription offer instead of your workout. Your data stays, and export keeps working.

5. Purchase, withdrawal and refunds

You make the purchase in the App Store with Apple; Apple is the seller and handles billing. Any right of withdrawal therefore applies not against us but under the Apple Media Services Terms. They also explain how to withdraw from a purchase.

Only Apple grants refunds. You request them at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t refund payments ourselves.

6. Health

Strength training puts strain on muscles, joints, heart and circulation. You train at your own risk. Check with a doctor before training whether it is suitable for you, especially with pre-existing conditions, after injuries or during pregnancy.

Tarvo’s targets are suggestions that Tarvo calculates from your entries by open rules. They are not individual medical, therapeutic or coaching advice and don’t take your health into account. Tarvo is not a medical device; the heart rate on Apple Watch is for display only.

Only lift what you can move safely with good form. Stop training if you feel pain, dizziness or shortness of breath.

7. Your data

Your data is yours. Export as CSV or JSON always works, even without a subscription.

Your data is on your devices and, if you use iCloud, in your private iCloud. We have no copy and can’t restore lost data. Back it up with iCloud or the export. How we handle data is described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Website content

Learn articles, exercises, plans and calculators on tarvo.app are for information. The one-rep max calculator estimates your max from one set; the result is an estimate, not a target for an attempt.

9. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and where we have given a guarantee.

For slight negligence, we are liable only if we breach an essential contractual obligation, meaning an obligation that makes using Tarvo possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely. In that case, liability is limited to the damage that was foreseeable and typical when the contract was made. Otherwise, liability for slight negligence is excluded.

For data loss caused by slight negligence, we are liable only for the effort that restoring from a regular backup would have required.

Apple is responsible for Apple services such as the App Store, iCloud and Apple Health. We don’t guarantee their availability.

10. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms if Tarvo, Apple’s requirements or the law change. The version with the date at the top of this page applies. Changes that put you at a disadvantage under a running subscription apply to that subscription only once you agree to them.

11. Applicable law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country.

If any provision of these terms is invalid, the rest remain valid.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms to [email protected].
